Honeywell is adding features to FlySmart with Airbus electronic flight bag (EFB), the company said. Dispatcher View will give dispatchers the same real-time information that the flight crew has.
With the new feature, dispatchers can see identical real-time Weather on Board display at the same time the flight crew does. Honeywell said this allows for collaborative decision-making and reduced pilot workload. The real-time weather data will also be available in flight, the company said. Thanks to the FlySmart Airbus connection, A350 flight crews can download weather data the same way they would download flight plans to their Class 2 EFB. Honeywell said all Airbus crews will be able to update weather through Wi-Fi or cellular networks, too.
Weather on Board was introduced in 2015. It was adapted from the Honeywell Weather Information Service app for use by Airbus operators.
