Laotian start-up airline Lao Center Airlines selected Lido/FMS database and the Lido/RouteManual navigation charts from Lufthansa Systems under a five-year contract announced Tuesday. Lao Center Airlines began flight operations at the end of April.

Lido/FMS gives the airline access to data tailored to its particular aircraft type, cockpit systems and route network. The FMS database is used directly by the Flight Management Computer Guidance System (FMCGS), Lufthansa said.

In addition to Lido/FMS, Lao Central Airlines will be using the Lido/RouteManual navigation charts from Lufthansa Systems. The navigation charts are generated directly from the Lido navigation database.

“We look forward to a successful relationship with Lufthansa Systems,” said Savanhphone Phongsavanh, CEO at Lao Central Airlines. “We were impressed by the quality of the FMS data and the first-class, user-friendly navigation charts. Our pilots are perfectly equipped with these two products, and both our airline and, ultimately, our passengers will benefit from efficient processes.”

Lao Central Airlines is based in Vientiane. With a fleet of two Boeing 737 aircraft, the airline links the Laotian capital with the cities of Pakse and Luang Prabang as well as Bangkok (Thailand), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Siam Reap (Cambodia).
