Airborne IP Recorders
Acra Control Inc., of Hollywood, Md., introduced a range of compact airborne IP recorder products that capture Ethernet packets from onboard networks. The recorders are built using open industry standard setup protocols, storage medias and file formats, Acra said.
Data is stored on a solid-state hard disk cartridge with a SATA interface or on CompactFlash card formatted as a regular FAT32 volume. The files can be accessed instantly and used without custom software using a PC with standard connectors and off-the-shelf readers. The recorder utilizes different options to meet customer specific needs, with logging speed available from 64Mbps to 400Mbps and variants with different color, display/mounting and storage medium configurations, the company said. Handheld GPS
Honeywell released a version of its Bendix/King by Honeywell AV8OR handheld GPS for helicopter operators. The AV8OR is a portable, touch-screen unit for use in the car or in the air, with real-time weather capability, moving-map navigation and video-in capability. Its 4.3-inch screen can display weather from Honeywell’s KDR 610 or WxWorx portable receiver, and traffic from Zaon Flight Systems’ XRX portable traffic receiver. Audio Panel
PS Engineering, of Lenoir City, Tenn., added features to its PMA8000B audio panel, including Monitor Mode, Multiple Music Muting Modes, user-selectable Telephone sidetone, and selectable music for the pilot while in ISO mode. Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing introduced SVME/DMV-186, a rugged 6U VME64 single board computer. Data Bus Terminal
National Hybrid Inc. released Terminal+, a 1553 databus product that offers a multi-protocol databus interface with integrated transformers. It can function as a simultaneous monitor/remote terminal, a programmable bus controller, a remote terminal or a bus monitor, the company said. It supports Mil-Std-1553 and Mil-Std-1760 functionality. The Terminal+ component measures 1.05-inch by 0.75-inch by 0.185-inch with an operating temperature of -67°F to 257°F. Datalink Integration
International Communications Group (ICG), of Newport News, Va., integrated its NxtLink family of datalink-capable Iridium communications systems with Dassault Falcon Jet’s EASy integrated avionics system for the Falcon 7X. (Honeywell manufactures the EASy avionics system.) The test program was conducted to ensure the interoperability of NxtLink and EASy components. Barco introduced a line of airborne mission displays the AL and AX families specifically designed for use in harsh cabin environments. The AX displays come in 15-inch, 15-inch widescreen and 17-inch versions; the AL comes in 19-inch, 20-inch and 24-inch versions. The Barco AX displays are fitted with LED backlighting technology and an intuitive touchscreen interface. The AL units are compatible with all common input signals, including daylight video cameras, moving maps, computer, radar and 8-bit native video processing, making them suited for FLIR applications. Data Device Corp. (DDC), of Bohemia, N.Y., introduced a line of rugged Mil-Std-1553/ARINC 429 embedded and test cards designed around its AceXtreme 1553 core. The cards feature a common API that can be used for test cards, embedded cards and components to simplify application code development, shorten software development time and eliminate risk, according to the company. L-3 Aviation Recorders, of Sarasota, Fla., signed an agreement with AeroMechanical Services Ltd., of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to sell AeroMechanical’s real-time data communications and Internet data delivery systems for aircraft. Bundled with L-3’s flight recorder and electronic flight bags, the data systems can receive, record, store, monitor, transmit and analyze critical aircraft flight data. They will be marketed under the FLYHT brand, in conjunction with L-3 flight data recorders. Avidyne, of Lincoln, Mass., introduced the EX600 Multi-Function Display (MFD), a follow-on to its EX500 MFD that adds a 5.8-inch display and a Map Panning feature that allows the pilot to pan and zoom on the moving map using dedicated keys. The display is designed to enhance situational awareness for general aviation and helicopters pilots. Flight Display Systems, of Alpharetta, Ga., introduced the FDHDR200, a High-Definition Digital Video Recorder (HD-DVR). It features 1080i HD resolution, up to eight hours of recording time, and 50 percent smaller installation profile than legacy VHS recorders, the company said. Gulfstream Aerospace is offering the Securaplane Technologies PreFlite System security system as an upgrade for large-cabin aircraft. The enhanced system provides worldwide, real-time event notification and remote system control/interrogation via a GSM-connected cell phone or land line, the airframer said. The system includes radar-based wheel-well sensors; enhanced intrusion communications through system alerts via calls or texts, and the ability to arm, disarm and check status from any phone. SkyTrac Systems, of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, released the next generation of software — SkyWeb V3.0 –– for its web-based asset management, mapping and reporting system. SkyWeb V3.0 features weather overlays, including precipitation and aeronautical TAFS, NOTAMS and METARS. It will enable users to generate reports on flight time and air time for selected time periods and assets.
