ViaSat, based in Carlsbad, Calif., was awarded a $4.8 million contract for Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) terminals for the F-16s. This award resulted from a competitive procurement for 30 LVT(6) configuration terminals under a Foreign Military Sales program through the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command. MIDS-LVT is part of a tactical radio system that collects data from many sources and displays an electronic overview of the battlefield using secure, high capacity, jam resistant, digital data and voice. The system is used on US Navy, US Air Force, US Army platforms and military platforms of other nations.
