L3 Technologies has acquired military pilot training provider Doss Aviation, L3 said. Doss Aviation is to be renamed to “L3 Doss,” and integrated into the company’s electronic systems business segment.

Based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Doss Aviation is the “sole” provider for initial flight training for the U.S. Air Force, according to L3. Doss Aviation was recently authorized to train international military pilots as well. It owns and operates a full-service training facility in Pueblo, Colorado, offering curriculum coursework and flight training. Doss Aviation offers services for fixed-wing, rotary-wing (for the U.S. Army) and unmanned aircraft system pilots. It also offers global airfield service support activities at U.S. government bases, including aircraft and bulk refueling services and aircraft component repair and modification.

“The strength of Doss Aviation’s military training, combined with our existing training solutions, increases our position to support our customers’ growing demand for trained international military and commercial pilots,” said Christopher E. Kubasik, L3’s president and COO. “This addition to our portfolio accelerates a strategic focus area and provides the opportunity for further innovation in the marketplace.”
