[Avionics Today 08-05-2016] Universal Display Corp., a company that aims to enable energy-efficient displays and lighting, has signed an Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) technology license agreement and supplemental material purchase agreement with Tianma Micro-electronics. Tianma is a Chinese small-and medium-size display panel manufacturer for the avionics sector, among others. The agreements run for five years.

Tianma produces Active Matrix OLED (AM-OLED) technology in domestic China. Under the license agreement, Universal Display, through its wholly owned subsidiary UDC Ireland, has granted Tianma Micro-electronics non-exclusive license rights under various patents owned or controlled by Universal Display to manufacture and sell OLED display products. Additionally, Universal Display will supply phosphorescent OLED materials to Tianma Micro-electronics for use in its licensed products.
