[Avionics Today 07-07-2016] The global display market for avionics applications is expected to reach $5.47 billion in revenue by 2020, according to the latest market research report by Technavio.

“The introduction of micro display technologies such as [Cathode Ray Tube] CRT, digital light processing, LCD, liquid crystal on silicon, and LED have helped [Head-Up Display] HUD manufacturers develop efficient HUDs providing large field-of-view and minimum aberrations. Digital light processing technology enables large field-of-view by providing flexibility in optical design. One of the advantages of this technology is that it minimizes image distortion while displaying information on the screen,” said Sunil Kumar Singh, and industry display analyst for Technavio. “Next-generation display technologies such as micro-electro-mechanical systems-based laser scanning and optical waveguides and allow HUD manufacturers to reduce the size of HUDs, as micro display technologies can be easily integrated into a smaller footprint,” added Sunil.
