KRET to Upgrade Russia’s Tu-160 Strategic Bomber Avionics

[Avionics Today 12-04-2015] Russia’s Radio-Electronic Technologies Concern (KRET), a subsidiary of the state-run corporation Rostec, is building a new avionics system for Russia’s Tupolev Tu-160 strategic bomber. The modernization project aims to include elements of integrated modular avionics. After the avionics rebuild, the aircraft will be renamed the Tu-160m2.

The new avionics suite will include new computing and on-board systems, controls, inertial navigation system, a complex electronic warfare system and weapons control as well as a time-flow metering systems. KRET anticipates it will complete the avionics upgrade to project by 2020.
