[Avionics Today 08-06-2015] EL AL Israel Airlines has announced its intent to purchase and lease up to 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, with purchase rights for 13 additional airplanes. Deliveries of the 787s are planned to begin in mid-2017 as part of the airline’s plans for fleet renewal of the airline’s all-Boeing fleet.

“During the next five years, these aircraft will replace the 747-400 and 767 fleets. They are intended for EL AL’s medium- and long-range destinations (New York, Boston, Toronto, Beijing, Mumbai, South Africa, and other destinations). The Dreamliner, the most innovative and advanced aircraft in the world, have many operational advantages including fuel efficiency and low maintenance costs,” said El AL CEO David Maimon.
