[Avionics Today 07-09-2015] Avtech Sweden AB announced it has entered an agreement with Air Berlin for the implementation of Avtech’s Aventus NowCast Full Flight solution for Air Berlin’s operations into and between Berlin, Germany; Zurich, Switzerland; Antalya, Turkey; and Palma, Spain. The solution will provide Air Berlin accurate and up-to-date wind information tailored to each flight’s own trajectory. Information received from Aventus will allow the aircraft’s flight computers to receive and use more exact information leading to better on-board predictions, which in turn will provide fuel savings to the airline. Aventus will also provide other benefits such as more accurate time predictions and crew workload reduction.
The agreement is planned to run for two months, during which a joint analysis will be executed within Air Berlin’s operations between and at these four airports. Based on the results of the analysis, the companies will discuss subsequent negotiations on potential long-term delivery of the service to Air Berlin’s network, involving approximately 140 airports throughout the world.
