[Avionics Today 03-24-2015] The U.S. Army will use the Ensco Avionics IGL and IData tool suite to develop its Ground Based Sense and Avoid Alert Display (GBSAA) subsystem. According to Ensco, the GBSAA is being developed to comply with the FAA’s regulations for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) flying in domestic airspace.

Currently, the Army uses a visual ground observer or a chase manned aircraft when its UAS are in flight. The GBSAA system will provide an alternative to these options and will be installed at five U.S. Army locations by 2016.
