[Avionics Today 09-04-2014] L2 Consulting Services and Rockwell Collins have secured an FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the Boeing 767 large-format display retrofit. L2 was tasked with developing the engineering design and analysis for the installation kit, producing the installation kits and providing prototype remote installation support services for Rockwell Collins.

The 767 upgrade features three large-format Liquid-Crystal Displays (LCDs) that replace six Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) displays and numerous analog instruments. According to L2, the new LCD offers enhanced flight crew situational awareness, a platform to incorporate future safety-enhancing technology such as airport taxi maps, data link weather, surface guidance and enhanced visions systems and extended aircraft life by proactively managing CRT obsolescence.
