[Avionics Today May 23, 2014] RUAG Aviation has joined forces with Satcom1 and Emteq to jointly offer an in-flight connectivity system capable of streaming data at speeds of up to 432 kbps.

The EASA-approved system is an after market offering based on Inmarsat’s SwiftBroadband High Gain Atenna service.  According to RUAG, the new upgrade provides Dassault 7X operators with “full office functionality in the sky.”

Satcom1’s AvioIP software suite on Emteq’s Router by eConnect delivers data acceleration and compression, and also provides the wireless streaming of content to cabin monitors and passengers’ Personal Electronic Devices (PED).  RUAG is providing the installation of hardware for the upgrade.

“Our joint satcom system enhances customers’ in-flight experience and work efficiency with minimal capital investment and installation downtime,” said Michael Sattler, senior vice president of business aviation at RUAG Aviation.
