[Avionics Today May 5, 2014] The FAA issued a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) and Parts Manufacturing Approval (PMA) to LiveTV for its In-flight Entertainment (IFE) system on JetBlue’s fleet of Airbus A321 passenger aircraft.

Under the STC and PMA, LiveTV is now authorized to add its LiveTV 4.0 system to JetBlue’s fleet of A321s.  JetBlue will also be adding its Fly-FiTM in-flight Wi-fi to the A321s.

The airline began adding Fly-Fi to its A320 fleet last December and is currently performing 10 installations per month, with the goal of rolling out the service to the entire A320 fleet by the end of the year.

"We are very excited that LiveTV has received approval from the FAA and we can now commence the next phase in this process — installing LiveTV 4.0 and Fly-Fi on the other three all-core A321 aircraft, which have been flying since last December," said Jamie Perry, director of product development at JetBlue. "The next step is to receive the certification needed for the first A321 Mint aircraft."
