Universal Avionics has appointed Bob Sanchez as its new program development manager to lead its upgrade program within the government and military aviation market segment.

Sanchez, a former military business development manager at BAE Systems will focus on both military and commercial derivative aircraft modifications in his new role.

"Aircraft constantly require avionics upgrades whether it be for obsolescence management or technology upgrades to keep up with the constant change in FAA/ICAO airspace requirements.  As more and more government and military programs embrace Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) solutions, we look to grow into those government programs and assist these offices as best as we can," a spokesperson for Universal said in a statement to Avionics magazine.

Prior to joining BAE Systems, Sanchez served 15 years in the U.S. Air Force as an avionics flight test specialist.
