U.K.’s Air Traffic services company NATS’ Chief Executive Richard Deakin has joined the governing council of the Air Traffic Management Research Institute (ATMRI) in Singapore.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) is looking to use Deakin’s guidance to help ATMRI develop new solutions to improve ATM throughout Singapore and the greater Asia Pacific airspace. In recent years the region has seen enormous AT  growth, and is now looking to modernize its AT network with similar improvements to Europe’s SESAR project and the NextGen program in the United States.

NATS is also seeking to open a permanent office in Singapore later this year.
