[Avionics Today February 24, 2014] Rockwell Collins signed a "landmark" Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Russian aviation solutions provider Transas Aviation to jointly tackle forward-fit and retrofit avionics opportunities in Russia.

Under the new agreement, the St. Petersburg, Russia-based Transas Group subsidiary will gain access to Rockwell Collins engineering and certification capabilities as well as its support network.

The MoU is the first formal agreement between a major avionics manufacturer and a Russian-based aviation solutions provider, which Rockwell Collins says is a major milestone in the region.

“The Russian and CIS aviation market segment is quickly emerging and to successfully meet demand, strong relationships like we have with Transas Aviation are becoming more critical,” said Claude Alber, vice president and managing director, Europe, the Middle East and Africa for Rockwell Collins.
“Together, we will deliver robust solutions for Russian aircraft by leveraging the market-leading expertise of both companies.”
