[Avionics Today February 24, 2014] Garmin has released the GXM 42, a portable aviation weather receiver that gives pilots the ability to access new weather services available from Sirius XM’s satellite network.

Similar to previous generation antennas from Garmin, the GXM provides radar, aviation routine weather reports and turbulence forecasts. New capabilities on the GXM 42 include information about lightning, including cloud-to-cloud and cloud-to-ground activity, graphical winds aloft, temperatures aloft, AIRMETS and SIGMETS.
