Rockwell Collins on Tuesday announced AeroVironment has selected its MicroGRAM GPS receiver for the Wasp AE unmanned aircraft system (UAS).

MicroGRAM has a 90 percent size reduction over its predecessor—the Miniature PLGR Engine-SAASM (MPE-S)—and provides Selective Availability/Anti-Spoofing Module (SAASM) GPS technology, the company said.

“Having secure GPS significantly reduces the possibility that the Wasp AE can be jammed or spoofed,” said Dave Schreck, director of UAS and control technologies at Rockwell Collins.
