London-based Bluebox Avionics will provide its portable in-flight entertainment system for Singapore Airline’s low-cost carrier Scoot’s fleet of Boeing 777s.

The Bluebox Ai iPad app provides content for passengers to view on their own tablet devices. In addition the company offers an optional protective case and integrated battery system for the iPad that delivers more than 20 hours of battery life. The Bluebox system is currently flying on Jetstar, British Airways, OpenSkies, Air Italy, and Thai Airways.

“The Bluebox Ai IFE solution enables us to deliver further value to our customers in a package that is straightforward to manage. It will satisfy our current need and is able to support our future plans for our in-flight entertainment offering,” said Campbell Wilson, Scoot’s CEO.

Scoot, which launched service this month, provides medium and long haul no-frills flights with its initial fleet of four 777s. Its first-year routes will link Australia, Singapore, Thailand and China, with other destinations to be announced, the airline said.

“Our global support and service infrastructure ensures that our airline clients are able to deliver the very latest and stimulating content to their passengers in a package that is backed by unrivalled support. We are delighted that Bluebox Ai has been selected by as progressive an airline as Scoot. We have very similar philosophies and a shared focus on excellence that provides the basis of a great, long term relationship,” said David Brown, Joint Managing Director of Bluebox.
