Kratos Defense & Security Solutions has been awarded a contract by a major U.S. prime contractor for the production of integrated microwave assemblies to be used in the U.S. Navy’s P-8A aircraft. The contract is valued at approximately $1.3 million and is for its Herley Industries subsidiary.

The P-8A Poseidon is the U.S. Navy’s newest maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft. It is a long-range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft capable of broad-area, maritime and littoral operations.

"This is a follow-on award for the Low Rate Initial Production III (LRIP) for the P-8A Program," Richard F. Poirier, president, Herley said. "We are pleased to be a part of this important U.S. Navy program and anticipate receiving follow-on contracts from this prime contractor on this program over the next 15 years."
