Data Link Solutions (DLS), a joint venture between Rockwell Collins and BAE Systems, has been awarded a $3.8 million contract by the U.S. Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) for the production of Multifunctional Information Distribution System – Low Volume Terminals (MIDS-LVT) for the Taiwan P-3 and Ground Link-16 Program.

“The P-3 aircraft conducts vital maritime patrol and reconnaissance missions for the Taiwan Navy. Now that information can be shared in real-time with other Taiwan military forces,” said DLS Director Heather Neff. “Our unique ability to provide this critical tactical data link capability expands our presence in the Asia Pacific region.”

MIDS-LVT was developed by a joint, multinational program office based in San Diego to provide Link-16 capability at a lower weight, volume and cost. MIDS-LVT provides real-time data communications, situational awareness and navigation, digital voice and TACAN, all in a jam-resistant, crypto-secured package.
