Air Arabia will use Lufthansa Systems’ Lido/Flight for flight planning, the companies announced Tuesday.

According to Lufthansa, Lido/Flight calculates optimal flight routes based on various factors and can reduce fuel costs by up to 5 percent. The system is also used by the airline’s affiliates Air Arabia Maroc and Air Arabia Egypt.

Lido/Flight provides dispatchers with optimization options regarding flight time, fuel consumption or costs of each flight. Lido/Flight also offers additional modules which facilitate dispatchers’ work in various subtasks. One of these is the Airline Operations Support (AOS) module, which fully automates the flight planning process. The Inflight Monitor (IFM) module automatically monitors every flight which has been calculated but not yet completed. The system reports all updated airspace restrictions, airport and weather data and automatically suggests alternative routes to the dispatcher if necessary.
