Honeywell signed a $40 million contract with VRG Linhas Aereas S.A. to provide its full suite of safety avionics for 65 B737-800s, the companies announced Tuesday. Deliveries of the aircraft are expected to begin in 2013.

The full suite of safety avionics includes Honeywell’s IntuVue weather radar, Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System, Quantum Line Communications & Navigation System, solid state Flight Data Recorder and Cockpit Voice Recorder and emergency locator transmitter.

“Honeywell’s IntuVue 3-D advanced weather radar helps pilots make better decisions, and its reliability and weight savings can yield a cost savings of nearly $10,000 per aircraft,” said Mike Madsen, vice president of Airlines, Honeywell Aerospace.
