Gregory Yeldon

CMC Electronics, of Montreal, promoted Gregory Yeldon to president. Yeldon has more than 20 years of experience in the aerospace sector. He has served as interim president of CMC Electronics since November 2008. Additionally, he has served as vice president and chief financial officer, and corporate comptroller at the company. From 2001 to 2007, he was on the board of directors for CMC Electronics and CMC Electronics Holdings. Earlier in his career, Yeldon held positions at Leigh Instruments, Micronav International and Peat Marwick.

Bill Peltola

AeroMechanical Services, based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, appointed Bill Peltola director of business development for its FLYHT subsidiary, which markets technologies that assist live downloading of navigation, airframe, systems and engine data via satcom and the Internet to ground stations. Peltola, a licensed private pilot, was most recently senior vice president at Aircell. His career began at Boeing, followed by 12 years at Sundstrand Data Control, where he focused on flight data recorder activities. Peltola held positions at British Telecom, Iridium, GTE Airfone and GEC Marconi Inflight Systems.

Flight Display Systems Appointments

Flight Display Systems, of Alpharetta, Ga., hired three engineers to support its Research and Development team. Colleen Paine was named a program engineer. She has more than nine years of experience as a software developer. She has held positions at McKesson and PerfectServe, where she worked with Siebel VB and wrote SQL server procedures. Jonathan Pinson was named product engineer. He worked as an engineer for Rexnord Industries in Auburn, Ala. Nick Caine joined the company as a research and development engineer. He previously worked at Miller Mechanical Contractors and Engineers.

Brett Gardner

Becker Avionics, based in Miramar, Fla., named Brett Gardner director of sales and marketing. Before joining Becker, Gardner served in the rank of major on voluntary assignment as an Army Reserve company commander with the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command in Colorado Springs, Colo. He has worked for MD Helicopters, American Eurocopter and Bell Helicopter Textron.

Josh Brungardt

Kansas State University at Salina named Josh Brungardt director of the Unmanned Aerial Systems Program Office, which is part of the university’s Applied Aviation Research Center. Brungardt has served as the chief pilot for High Performance Aircraft Training and Lancair. In addition, he has served as an instructor pilot to the U.S. Air Force. He also specializes in EFIS systems and avionics integration. In 2006, Brungardt started EFIS Training, a pilot training company focused on transitioning pilots to glass cockpits.

Shephard Girion

Aitech Defense Systems, of Chatsworth, Calif., named Shephard Girion general manager. Girion joined the company in 2005 as vice president of programs. Previously, Girion was director of program management for Curtiss-Wright Controls and program manager at Orbital Sciences Corp. He also served as program manager of the Chemical and Biological Mass Spectrometer Block II program for the U.S. Army Soldier and Biological Chemical Command and as program manager of the Chemical and Biological Detection System for the U.S. Army Chemical Biological Defense Command.

Michael Opheim

Avidyne Corp., of Lincoln, Mass., appointed Michael Opheim sales manager for the Eastern Region of North America. Opheim joins Avidyne after a 30-year career with Rockwell Collins, where he most recently was director of sales for the eastern United States and Latin America. Previous positions included regional airline sales and marketing, OEM sales and flight dispatch for its corporate flight department.

Roderick Hall

Roderick D. Hall was appointed FAA assistant administrator for government affairs. Hall spent the last nine years as a congressional staffer, most recently as deputy chief of staff and associate professional staff member to Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Texas, a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Previously, Hall worked for Ernst & Young.

Chris Wray

Banyan Air Service, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., named Chris Wray Falcon crew leader. Wray will expand Banyan’s maintenance offerings for the Falcon 50, 900 and 2000 to include airframe inspections and unscheduled line maintenance. Wray previously held positions with Executive Jet Management, Jet Aviation, General Dynamics, Continental, Mountain Air Cargo, Merlin Express, Templhof Airlines USA and Caribbean Helicopters.

Roger Tanner

WestWind Technologies, Huntsville, Ala., named Roger Tanner business development manager for Hangar Operations. Tanner has been with WestWind for six years as hangar operations manager.
