Rockwell Collins signed contracts with Azul Airlines and Lufthansa to provide its HGS-5600 Head Up Guidance System (HGS). Rockwell Collins’ HGS presents all primary flight data in the pilot’s foward field of view, eliminating transitions from head-down to head-up flying. Rockwell Collins said the system provides enhanced situational awareness and energy management in all flight conditions. For Azul, a low-fare Brazilian carrier, Rockwell Collins will provide dual HGS-5600 for its fleet of 31 Embraer E195s. Installation will be completed at Embraer prior to delivery. For Lufthansa, Rockwell Collins will provide dual HGS-5600 systems for its fleet of 20 Embraer 190/Embraer 195s for Lufthansa CityLine, a wholly owned group company of Deutsche Lufthansa AG. First deliveries are scheduled for September 2009. Lufthansa CityLine will be the first European airline to operate with a dual HGS configuration.
