Esterline Sells Muirhead Subsidiary

Esterline Corp., of Bellevue, Wash., announced Monday it is selling its U.K.-based Muirhead Aerospace subsidiary to AMETEK, Paoli, Pa. Esterline said it anticipates an after-tax gain on the sale of about $16 million. Muirhead has estimated 2008 sales of about $54 million."Muirhead Aerospace expands AMETEK’s penetration in motion control products for the aerospace and defense markets, including actuators and other specialized linear motors, complementing our existing technical motor capabilities," said Frank S. Hermance, AMETEK Chairman and CEO. Muirhead manufactures specialized motion technology including precision electro-mechanical actuators and servo components for a wide variety of aircraft, land vehicles, ships and missiles. The operation also provides maintenance, repair and overhaul services to the U.K. aviation industry.
