AirAsia and AirAsia X, a long haul low-cost affiliate of AirAsia, selected a suite of Rockwell Collins avionics for Airbus A320 and A330 aircraft. Financial terms were not disclosed. This selection, announced at this week’s Singapore Air Show, includes 60 new Airbus A320 with an option for 40 additional aircraft for AirAsia. AirAsia X’s 15 Airbus A330 aircraft will be supported by a 15-year service and support agreement. Under the terms of this agreement, Rockwell Collins will provide maintenance support at a set price per flight hour, the company said. The avionics selected includes MultiScan Hazard Detection System, the GLU-925 Multi-Mode Receiver, the ADF-900 Automatic Direction Finder, DME-900 Distance Measuring Equipment, HFS-900D High Frequency System, CPL-920D Coupling Unit and the VOR-900 VHF Omnidirectional Radio.
