American Airlines announced plans to upgrade cabin interiors on its entire fleet of 124 Boeing 757 aircraft, including the installation of an updated in-flight entertainment system. Financial terms of the plan were not disclosed. The in-flight entertainment upgrades include new LCD monitors, which replace CRT monitors, and new digital media file servers for better in-flight video and audio entertainment quality. In addition, American said it is increasing the number of first class seats on the aircraft and adding new sidewalls. The work is slated to begin in 2008. In addition to the 757 aircraft enhancements, American already has plans in progress to enhance the interiors of its fleet of Boeing 777, 767-300s and 767-200 aircraft.
