McMillan, President

Michael McMillan has been named president of Meggitt/S-TEC, Mineral Wells, Texas. The 30-year aviation veteran served most recently as a founding vice president with Piaggio America. Before that he spent 21 years with Raytheon Aircraft, serving as the vice president of sales for the company’s jet division. Visit

Bateman, Honored

Don Bateman, a Honeywell engineer and the inventor of the ground proximity warning system (GPWS), was named as one of this year’s 13 inductees into the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Bateman, who is the chief of technology for Honeywell’s Commercial Electronic Systems business, led the team of engineers that developed the GPWS in the 1970s and the enhanced GPWS (EGPWS) in the 1990s. Fastener producer Spiralock Corp., Madison Heights, Mich., has hired and promoted several executives. Jim Gillis, the former vice president of sales and marketing, has been promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer. Arlindo Marques Filho has been promoted from chief engineer and general manager of Spiralock Brazil to chief engineer of Spiralock Europe. Finally, the company has hired Jose Starosta to succeed Filho as general manager of Spiralock Brazil. Visit

Perehoduk, Vice President-Contracts

BAE Systems Platform Solutions, Johnson City, N.Y., has named Mark Perehoduk vice president of contracts. He comes to BAE Systems from Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, where he was the director of contract management. Tsavalas, Vice President & CTO

Yannis Tsavalas has been hired as vice president and chief technology officer of Eaton Corp., Cleveland. He comes to Eaton from General Electric, where he was the chief technology officer for GE Lighting and the general manager of Global Lighting Technology, GE Consumer and Industrial. Tsavalas succeeds Craig Black, who was named vice president of Eaton’s Electrical Components Operations. Visit

Tidwell, Manager

Midcoast Aviation, St. Louis, has hired David Tidwell as manager of completions and modifications. Tidwell served in a similar role at the Bombardier service facility in Tucson, Ariz. He comes with more than 30 years of aviation experience, having also worked as a modifications supervisor for Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. Visit


Keystone Helicopter, West Chester, Pa., has promoted two employees, Jim Munda and Darrell Jones. Munda, named vice president of engineering, was formerly KeyTech’s division manager of engineering and the designated alteration station (DAS) administrator. Keystone promoted Jones to vice president of completions. He was previously Keystone’s director of aircraft completions. Visit

The Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society (ISA), Research Triangle Park, N.C., has named Don Zee its 2005 president. He will lead the executive board in the ISA’s 60th year of operation. Grup, Sales Specialist

After 18 years with Cessna Aircraft, Dave Grup has moved to Stevens Aviation to become Cessna Citation technical sales specialist, in charge of the aircraft type’s service, maintenance and modifications. Grup also served in the U.S. Navy, where he was a helicopter crew chief. Visit

Huynh, Dir.-Environment Safety/Health

Hoai Huynh has joined the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), Arlington, Va., as its director of environment safety and health. He will be responsible for AIA’s environmental affairs, occupational safety and health activities. Siegel, Honored

Northrop Grumman’s Neil Siegel, vice president of technology and chief engineer of command, control and communications for the company’s Mission Systems sector, has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering. He was recognized for his "development and implementation of the digital battlefield, an integral part of U.S. Army operations." Siegel will be inducted into the academy during a ceremony in October of this year. Visit

Hicks, Vice President-Business Ops

Leonard Hicks has been named the vice president of business operations for Lockheed Martin’s Simulation, Training and Support unit. He is responsible for business relating to accounting, contracting, facilities, financial systems and property management. Schaaf, CAPT Executive Director

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has named Martin Schaaf the executive director of its commercial airline pilot training (CAPT) program. Schaaf will be responsible for all the program’s aspects, from recruiting to job placement.
