Avionics Editor Woodrow Bellamy III had a very busy week at the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget Airport. He diligently shared pictures, videos and articles with everyone interested in his favorite industry, despite any effects the time difference between the U.S. and France might have had on him.

Bellamy has been with Avionics since 2012, but the 2017 event was his first Paris Air Show experience. He was excited to see the 16 aircraft that would also be making their first appearance at the show. But before the show officially began, he was given another — and to him, unexpected — reason to be excited.

Bellamy was awarded the “Bill Gunston Technology Writer of the Year Award” at the Aerospace Media Dinner and Awards. Held on the eve of the show’s start, the dinner celebrates excellence in aerospace journalism and publishing during the year. And now, back in the U.S., Bellamy continues his pursuit of excellence for the topics and people he feels deserve nothing less.

“It is a very exciting time to be covering the global aerospace industry right now, especially with the continued evolution of avionics capabilities, deployment of new air traffic infrastructure and emergence of drones and new concepts for air transportation,” Bellamy said. “I couldn’t imagine writing about anything else.”
