Israeli Air Force (IAF) F-16C/D and F-16I fighter pilots began using the Mission Training Center (MTC), Elbit Systems said Monday, Nov. 25.

Elbit Systems, which provides the instruction and maintenance services for the MTC, said the center is based on its "One sim" infrastructure, allowing coordinated training and the use of an advanced arena generator to simulate more realistic virtual environments. The MTC also allows IAF pilots to conduct training sorties onboard trainers rather than actual fighter jets to reduce life cycle costs for in-service aircraft.

"The MTC system was developed in line with the modern combat doctrine which calls for real time fully integrated operation of multiple forces and thus requires an interoperable training solution," said Yoram Shmuely, general manager of the aerospace division at Elbit Systems.
