Question #18: Can you talk about the SIP Server a little more? If I want to use my Android cellphone with this, how would it work? I understand VoIP, but I don’t understand SIP.

ANSWER:

Your Wi-Fi equipped cellphone will see the Thrane & Thrane WAP (Wireless Access Point) and the WAP will assign a SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) address to your phone allowing a communication to the server which then converts the call to a AMBE-2 Inmarsat call. It’s transparent to you unless you just are interested with the technology happening behind the scenes.
