Northrop Grumman won a $13.5 million contract modification with the U.S. Navy for cost growth and new requirements related to the development of the Rapid Airborne Mine Clearance System, an airborne mine neutralization system deployed on the MH-60S helicopter. The Navy said the system provides a rapid response clearance capability against floating and near-surface moored sea mines that have been detected, classified and localized by the Airborne Laser Mine Detection System. Work will be performed in Melbourne, Fla., and work is expected to be completed by 2009.
