[Avionics Magazine 11-16-2017] The Boeing Company is set to rearrange its Defense, Space & Security business infrastructure, the company said Tuesday. By the end of 2020, Boeing plans to reduce facilities space by about 4.5 million square feet and move many positions from Huntington Beach, California, to elsewhere in the state and Alabama. The company will also be closing its El Paso, Texas, and Newington, Virginia, sites.

This repositioning will be done in the hopes to increase efficiency and collaboration, and extend global growth. In this effort, Boeing Defence UK, Boeing Defence Australia and Boeing Defense Saudi Arabia will align into one group, led by Defence UK’s managing director, David Pitchforth. They will still operate separately.
In California, El Segundo, Long Beach and Seal Beach will be benefiting from position movements out of Huntington Beach. El Segundo is home to the world’s largest satellite factory in the Boeing Satellite Development Center and is the center for Boeing Space and Intelligence Systems. St. Louis and Huntsville, Alabama, will be gaining moved positions as well. Some positions in Kent, Washington, will be moved to nearby Tukwila.
