[Avionics Today 04-14-2016] Cobham AvComm’s Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) test option for the ATC-5000NG NextGen Transponder Test Set is now ready for delivery on new test set orders. With the DME option installed, repair shops and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) can use the ATC-5000NG to test DME airborne systems by emulating a ground station.

The ATC-5000NG is the replacement product for the legacy SDX-2000 and the ATC-1400A/S-1403DL test sets. The software defined radio architecture supports more transponder Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA) DO-181E test capability than legacy products and has new capability needed to support the FAA’s NextGen test requirements, including Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) RTCA DO-260B and Universal Access Transceiver (UAT) RTCA DO-282.
