During an aircraft-ordering spree on the first two days of the Dubai Airshow, Rockwell Collins announced several orders with state-run Middle East airlines for weather radar, satellite communications and navigation systems, among other avionics products.
The aerospace and defense manufacturer said both Oman Air and Turkish Airlines have selected a full suite of avionics for their newly ordered aircraft. Oman Air purchased the next-generation Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance (TCAS II), MultiScan Threat Detection System, and GLU-925 Multi-Mode Receiver (MMR) which enables Required Navigation Performance (RNP) Area Navigation (RNAV) and Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) Out capabilities for an order of 11 Boeing Next Generation 737s placed at the show.
According to Rockwell Collins, Oman Air will use its next-generation TTR-2100 traffic computer to deploy its TCAS II operations. The TTR-2100 includes capabilities for future ADS-B In applications.
Turkish Airlines also purchased the MultiScan system, MMR and Satcom for a collection of newly ordered aircraft at the show, including 17 Airbus A330s, 25 Airbus A320s, 20 Boeing 777s and 20 Boeing Next Generation 737s. For Satcom, the Turkish carrier selected SAT-2200, which features airborne connectivity for flight deck communications using the latest ARINC 781 industry standard.
Deliveries of aircraft to both carriers are scheduled to begin in 2014.
