A number of Rockwell Collins’ surveillance, communication and navigation systems for business aircraft received European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification to comply with European airspace requirements, including:
–– EASA Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) for Rockwell Collins TTR-4000 and TTR-921 traffic alert and collision and avoidance system (TCAS) transmitter/receivers to comply with latest TCAS II European mandate Change 7.1 for more than 50 business aircraft types, and
–– EASA STC for European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) approach procedures with vertical guidance (APV) for Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21™ Flight Management System (FMS)-3000 on Hawker Beechcraft B200 series and B300 series King Air aircraft
Rockwell Collins has also released Protected Mode Controller Pilot Data Link Communications (PM-CPDLC) software for its Communication Management Units (CMUs) and Radio Interface Units (RIUs). The PM-CPDLC software is fully compliant with Europe’s Link 2000+ mandate and is on track for certification on multiple aircraft platforms.
Rockwell Collins continues to develop enhanced operational capabilities that are aligned with future airspace requirements by working with key industry groups around the globe. The company has taken the lead role in assisting with advancing future airspace initiatives for avionics in Europe through collaboration with EASA, EUROCAE and Eurocontrol.
Key Rockwell Collins-assisted airspace requirement accomplishments in Europe to date include ADS-B Out for helicopters that operate over the North Sea and new GPS/EGNOS-based approach procedures, such as localizer performance with vertical guidance (LPV), into Le Bourget airfield in France. The company is currently assisting in the development of LPV approaches at many other European airports.
