Avionics Testing Built to the Highest Standards

AIM GmbH is a leading designer and manufacturer of high quality and advanced avionics test and simulation modules, embedded interfaces, databus test and analysis software, data loaders and system solutions for MIL-STD-1553, STANAG3910/ EFEX, ARINC429, AFDX/ ARINC664, Gigabit Ethernet, ARINC825 (CANbus), PANAVIA Serial Link and Fibre Channel applications. Our broad range of products and services is used by the worlds leading defense and aerospace companies.

AIM’s modules are supplied in PC/104-Plus, PMC, PC-CARD, PCI/PCI-X, cPCI/ PXI, VME and VXI card formats. A key advantage is they are designed using a unique Common Core hardware approach that integrates multiple bus/network channels, multiple RISC processors, an onboard Application Support Processor (ASP), large onboard memory resources and an IRIG-B Time Code Encoder/ Decoder right on the module. All modules are delivered with full function Driver Software and support for operating systems such as WindowsXP/Vista/7, Linux, LabVIEW VI’s and LabVIEW RT.

For VME users, AIM provides the source code in C/C++ for integration into target systems using VxWorks, QNX, LynxOS, Integrity and others. AIM’s software interface has one common API (Application Programming Interface) which allows customers to re-use their application software across various hardware platforms, maintaining the software investment.

AIM’s new PC/104-Plus cards target specific use in the embedded market for MIL-STD-1553 and ARINC 429. Derived from the robust and field proven AIM PMC designs, the new modules are compatible with 3.3V and 5.0V PCI Bus signalling levels and offer full software compatibility with legacy AIM interface boards, easing migration to existing applications.

The AP104-1553-x is offered with 1, 2 or 4 dual redundant MIL-STD-1553 bus streams per card. AP104-429-x modules are available in configurations with 4, 8 or 16 ARINC 429 channels.

All cards include General Purpose Discrete I/O (GPIO) signals and IRIG-B Time Encoder/ Decoder functionality. The standard temperature range is 0°C to +70°C and the extended temperature range versions operate at -40°C to +85°C typically required for embedded applications. A comfort Application Programming Interface (API) is included, compatible with WindowsXP/Vista/7 and Linux. Host applications can be written in C/C++ with drivers for LabVIEW VI and LabVIEW RT included.

PC/104-Plus cards are compatible with PBA.pro™, AIM’s New Generation Databus Test and Analysis Tool.

PBA.proâ„¢ covers a wide range of applications from a standalone protocol analyzer to a complete systems test bench or advanced avionics integration facility. PBA.proâ„¢ supports single or multiple AIM avionics interfaces and third party hardware resources within a single powerful application.

The PBA.proâ„¢ software runs on both Windows and Linux platforms. Various levels of customization can be achieved via scripting, display building or even user-specific components and widgets with the seamless integration into the PBA.proâ„¢ framework.

With the all new AFDX Lab-Switch, AIM completes the palette of powerful AFDX/ARINC 664 test tools including modules, USB Network Taps and Databus Test and Analysis Software for any or all parts of new projects designing in the AFDX/ARINC 664 Network environment.

The AFDX Lab-Switch is designed for desktop or rack mount applications and behaves like a “real” AFDX/ARINC 664 Switch for all End Systems Test, Monitoring and Integration in laboratory or test rig environments. The product is offered with 8, 16 or 24 ports with 10/100 Mbps full duplex Ethernet physical layer interfaces compliant to IEEE 802.3 MAC layer protocol and provides essential functionality of an AFDX Switch such as frame filtering and traffic policing based on static configurations.

A comprehensive Python script package is included, supporting creation of Switch configurations via Scripts or by importing CSV formatted configuration files. Included in the delivery is a standalone application for creating and uploading configurations interactively via Switch maintenance port.

AIM has offices in the U.K. and United States, with the main design and manufacturing facilities based in Freiburg, Germany.
