New York-based EDO Corp. was awarded an $8 million contract from Lockheed Martin to provide the ALR-95 tactical radar Electronic Support Measures (ESM) and surveillance system for seven P-3C Orion maritime patrol and antisubmarine aircraft. Deliveries are set to begin in mid-2008. The ALR-95 is a maritime-patrol ESM system that enhances the aircraft’s survivability by detecting, identifying and locating hostile radar signals early and efficiently. As prime contractor to the U.S. Navy’s Naval Air Systems Command, Lockheed Martin is the mission system integrator for upgrading the P-3C’s mission avionics.
