[Avionics Magazine 01-04-2017] Cirrus Aircraft has launched the G6, which the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) calls the “smartest, safest and most advanced models ever of the best-selling SR22T, SR22 and SR20 piston airplanes.” The sixth generation versions of the Cirrus aircraft models features a new cockpit avionics setup, the “Cirrus Perspective+,” provided by Garmin.

According to Cirrus, the G6’s G1000 NXi integrated avionics flight deck features a processing speed that is “10 times faster” than prior Cirrus Perspective avionics flight decks. This is also the first Cirrus flight deck to feature a keypad controller with a QWERTY interface. There is also a new home key that brings pilots back to the main navigation functions after using a specific application or capability.
The flight deck also features a new autopilot controller with an optional automatic Yaw Damper function.
