Curtiss-Wright Controls was awarded a contract from Embraer to provide rugged data acquisition and recorder technology for use on the Legacy 500 business jets. Curtiss-Wright Controls Avionics & Electronics (CWC-AE) delivered its Acra KAM-500, Acra multi-role recorder, and Acra network switch subsystems to Embraer for use on the Legacy 500 network FAA certification program.
Embraer’s move from traditional Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) to Ethernet-based technology prompted an examination of best-in-class systems available worldwide. Embraer selected Curtiss-Wright Controls’ technology for use on its first Ethernet flight certification program so it can provide the FAA with performance results from dual Ethernet and PCM data streams.
