[Avionics Magazine 10-12-2016] California’s Stellar Labs has acquired FlightApps, according to a company news release. A digital marketplace for aviation, Stellar’s will now have an accelerated ability to deliver its commercial operations management technology to Part 135 charter operators with FlightApp’s information technology implementation and hosting capabilities.

This acquisition comes just as Stellar and Rockwell Collins dive into the joint endeavor to make the avionics company’s ARINCDirect Flight Operations System (FOS) a cloud-based system. FlightApps brings to the long-term effort its experience in FOS and flight operations management software.

FlightApps supports more than 200 operators, adding to Stellar’s digitally connected fleet of 114 aircraft types. The two companies have been working together since 2015, with FlightApp as an implementation partner.
