[Avionics Today March 21, 2014] Exelis will provide Electronic Warfare (EW) upgrades under a $36 million contract for the Turkish Air Force.

The contract will provide Turkey with Advanced Integrated Defensive Electronic Warfare Suite (AIDEWS) systems designed to protect its fleet of F-16 fighter jets from evolving electronic threats, Exelis said.

Turkey will also receive the ALQ-211 (V) 9, a pod variant of the AIDEWS system, which is carried externally rather than installed into the aircraft, and can be adjusted based on mission requirements.

Exelis expects to deliver the systems to Turkey beginning in mid-2016.
