The STC was issued as part of the agency’s approval of Mansfield, Mass.-based NexAir’s Saratoga NX aircraft revitalization program. Piper’s PA-32-301 single engine light aircraft originally entered service in 1980.

R9 brings a page and tab user interface to the revamped flight deck, along with Avidyne’s IFD5000 displays, 16-watt VHF NAV/COM radios and dual SBAS/LPV-capable GPS receivers among other avionics upgrades.

“The Saratoga NX is much more than your basic aircraft refurb. Rather than simply installing devices in a panel, we leverage our knowledge as engineers and pilots to integrate the avionics into the aircraft in a way that optimizes performance and ease-of-use,” said David Fetherson, president of NexAir Avionics.
