Shadin Avionics received FAA technical standard order (TSO) certification for its avionics interface system (AIS-460) of 1553-to-ARINC-429 data conversion units.
The AIS-460 has been modified to integrate the APX-119 transponder on select C-140 aircraft to achieve Mode S enhanced surveillance capability.
“Shadin can offer a Happy Box data conversion unit in a fraction of the cost and time as compared to typical development programs,” said Dan Nelson, CEO of Shadin Avionics.
Shadin’s modification of the AIS-460 system occurred under contract with Support Systems Associates.
