Astronics Corp. will equip up to 300 Airbus A320s and Boeing 737s for Chinese airlines, developing an STC for antennae and a Validation STC for the cabin distribution system as part of the company’s contract with Air Esurfing.

Working with Air Esurfing, which is a big in-flight connectivity player in China, and connection service provider Lufthansa Technik AG, Astronics will also be responsible for adapter plates and installation kits.

The initial award covers engineering costs and trial kits, though Astronics will be responsible for supporting installation after the system is tested and approved.

Astronics Connectivity Systems and Certifications will be handling the contract. It’s president, Michael Kuehn, said he is looking forward to an opportunity to make headway in the growing Asian market.
