[Avionics Today 09-09-2016] Scandinavia’s SAS is installing ViaSat Wi-Fi on its fleet as part of a full cabin upgrade on its short and medium-haul fleet. ViaSat’s solution promises to offer onboard Wi-Fi speeds of 12 Mbps to each passenger from gate-to-gate.
“The upgrade we implemented on our long haul aircraft gained a very positive reception and we are now upgrading our short and medium haul fleet, which will also include high-speed Wi-Fi,” said Rickard Gustafson, president and CEO of SAS.
The first aircraft with the new Wi-Fi system will enter service in the second half of 2017.
