[Avionics Today 04-06-2016] Telefonix PDT, the business unit within Telefonix responsible for developing and manufacturing hardware solutions for the Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) market, has signed a deal to complete the first Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the Summit line of hardware. The Summit line includes the Cabin Pinnacle general purpose server, Cabin Edge onboard content loader and Cabin ACe 802.11AC Wireless Access Point (WAP).

Telefonix PDT Summit can interface with Air-to-Ground (ATG), satellite connectivity systems, or traditional wireless Audio / Video on Demand (AVOD) entertainment systems.

The STC will be applicable to Boeing 737-700/800/900 aircraft, and will include Summit products, as well as a complete aircraft installation kit, which will include installation trays, cabling, antennas and control panels. Telefonix PDT has selected Astronics Armstrong Aerospace to act as the STC applicant and designer of the installation kit.
