[Avionics Today 06-05-2015] Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Bengaluru earlier this week to collaborate in design, development, engineering and manufacturing to produce advanced airborne communication equipment. The MOU aims to develop avionics that will meet the requirement of the defense services.

HAL and BEL have agreed to share the business from the Indian defense services. HAL has the expertise in design, development, engineering, manufacture of airborne communications equipment, whereas BEL has the expertise in design, development, engineering and manufacture of communications and secrecy products and solutions. The MoU sets to define the roles and responsibilities of both the Defense Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) for development of specific airborne communication equipment.
